Tyndall Elementary PTO Welcomes You.

Interested in running for a PTO board position, but don't know what it entails? Below is a list of the GENERAL duties each board member preforms. Please keep in mind it is up to each year's board if they will continue certain activities, which fundraisers to do, and who is responsible for them.

PRESIDENT:

Presides at all general membership meetings. Knows basic organizational guidelines and follows them. (Robert's Rules of Order is a great reference.) Oversees planning, organization, and volunteers at all activities, meetings, and fundraisers.

VICE PRESIDENT: 

In the event the President is temporarily not able to serve in the above duties, the Vice President presides over meetings,  and otherwise preforms the duties of the President. Coordinates volunteers for popcorn Fridays, book fairs, Santa Shop, and other activities throughout the year.

TREASURER:

Maintains books for all incoming and outgoing PTO monies. Catorgizes income and expenditures to appropriate categories. Provides front office with detailed PTO financial report for audit in January and before turning the financials over to new Treasurer. Deposits for all funds collected by PTO; provides receipts at their discretion or by request to parents/staff. Provides a general financial report to those at PTO general membership meetings. Volunteers at PTO activities and assists the board with planning and organization of these activities.

SECRETARY:

Records minutes of all general membership meetings and official PTO board meetings. In the absense of a Box Top Coordinator, the secretary logs and manages the Box Top/Campbells/Tyson programs. Volunteers at PTO activities and assists in planning and organizing these activities.

IF AMPLE VOLUNTEERS ARE AVAILABLE: It is up to the board if they would like to appoint chairpersons for certain activities. Examples are: Fall Festival, Book Fair, Volunteer Coordinator, Box Top/Campbells/Tyson Coordinator, etc. It is still the job of the President to oversee these activities and programs.

During the 2008-2009 school year, PTO raised funds to help better our school environment. These purchases included:

  • 51 refurbished computers for classrooms and computer labs
  • 40 monitors for computers
  • riding lawn mower and weed eater for custodial staff
  • 2 projection screens mounted in cafeteria and multipurpose room
  • books for library
  • DVD player each grade group and one for library
  • donation to each special area
  • various teacher requests
