Do I Need Turntables For An MP3 Setup?

I am a beginner Dj and I just purchased a mixer which has two slots for two Mp3 Players. My question is, do I still need turntables for my set up? Is scratching the only thing turntables would be needed for?

No, there’s no need for turntables in a dual MP3 setup. You just crossfade between the MP3 players using your mixer when changing songs. Yeah, scratching and other turntable tricks would be the only reason do use turntables. They’re still used in clubs, but assuming you’re talking about doing mobile DJ work, vinyl is heavy and bulky and you have to be very careful if you do outdoor gigs to keep vinyl out of the sun and extreme heat.
